With the NCAA transfer portal window now closed, Duke basketball’s offseason roster picture is beginning to take shape.

The Blue Devils and head coach Jon Scheyer are coming off a 35-3 finish in 2025-26 with a trip to the Elite 8. They finished the season ranked as the No. 4 team in the country, claiming both the ACC regular season and tournament titles for the second-straight year.

The transfer portal opened on Tuesday, April 7, and closed two weeks later on Tuesday, April 21. While the period for players to enter the portal has closed, those already in the portal can still commit to new programs.

Here’s a look at what Duke brought in and lost during the transfer portal cycle:

Belmont redshirt sophomore forward Drew Scharnowski was the first portal pickup for Duke, committing on Sunday, April 19. Scharnowski is a native of Burlington, Illinois, and played high school basketball for coach Brett Porto at Burlington Central High School.

Scharnowski averaged 10.7 points (68.1% FG), 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists during his sophomore season at Belmont, earning him First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference, All-Defensive team and Most-Improved team honors. The 6-foot-9 forward started in 24 games for the Bruins and averaged 21.8 minutes per game.

Wisconsin transfer shooting guard John Blackwell became the second portal addition for the Blue Devils, commiting on Tuesday, April 21. Blackwell was one of the best shooters in college basketball during the 2025-26 season, averaging 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 38.9% from deep. It earned him All-Big Ten Third-Team honors.

Duke had players transfer out for the first time since the 2023-24 season. The first was sophomore Darren Harris, who has since announced his transfer to Indiana and Darian DeVries. Freshman Nikolas Khamenia was the second Blue Devil to enter the portal, having since committed to UConn and Dan Hurley.

Harris appeared in 36 games off the bench for Duke in 2025-26, averaging 3.3 points per game while shooting 36.3% from the field. Khamenia averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds with five starts across Duke's 38 games, averaging nearly 20 minutes per game.
