Daniel Dubois dealt Fabio Wardley his first defeat as a ‌professional to take the WBO heavyweight title in a thunderous and bloody all-British clash on Saturday.

In a night that will go down in British boxing history, Daniel Dubois reclaimed his place among the heavyweight elite, stopping Fabio Wardley in a brutal, blood-soaked war to capture the WBO title. The all-British clash at the O2 Arena on Saturday delivered everything fans could ask for—and then some.

From the opening bell, it was clear this would be no ordinary fight. Wardley came out like a man possessed, dropping Dubois within the first 15 seconds. But Dubois, showing the heart of a true champion, rose from the canvas not once but twice. He weathered the early storm and began to impose his will, landing punishing shots that gradually turned the tide.

By the middle rounds, the fight had become a slugfest for the ages. Wardley's face was a mask of blood, with a vicious cut on the bridge of his nose and his right eye almost swollen shut. Yet, incredibly, he remained on his feet, refusing to go down. It took referee Howard Foster to step in at the start of the 11th round, finally calling a halt to the carnage and sparing Wardley further punishment.

"It was a war. Thank you, Fabio," said Dubois in the ring afterward, his voice thick with emotion. "I know I've got heart. I've got bundles of heart. I'm a warrior in there. I got knocked down, I have to get up, bounce it off and just come back harder."

For Dubois, this victory marks his second reign as a world heavyweight champion, having previously held the IBF belt after Oleksandr Usyk vacated it in 2024. The Ukrainian would later reclaim that title in July 2025, but now Dubois has his own piece of glory once more. "Very proud. Great. I thank Fabio for a great fight. We move on now. Thank God for this victory. I'm No. 1 again," he declared.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed after the fight that a rematch clause is in the contract, meaning these two warriors could very well do it all over again. For now, though, the boxing world is still catching its breath after one of the most memorable heavyweight battles in recent memory.
