Doriane Pin has officially entered the Formula 1 stratosphere. The reigning F1 Academy champion recently completed her maiden F1 test with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, marking a historic milestone for the sport.

Behind the wheel of the championship-winning W12 from the 2021 season, Pin completed an impressive 76 laps, covering over 200km of the legendary British track. The significance of the moment was underscored by the presence of current Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, who were on hand in the garage to offer their support.

"Driving an F1 car for the first time today was unreal," Pin reflected, her excitement palpable. "It was an extremely emotional day. I am very grateful for this incredible opportunity and to be surrounded by this team. While being a female driver doesn’t define me, it was great to show what we can do."

Pin's test is a powerful step forward for diversity in motorsport. She becomes the first woman ever to drive a Mercedes F1 car, following in the recent footsteps of drivers like Jessica Hawkins, who tested with Aston Martin in 2023. The leap from the F1 Academy car to the raw power of a hybrid-era F1 machine is monumental.

"The W12 is obviously really different from the other cars I’ve driven," Pin noted. "Everything is bigger and more powerful. I’m glad I was able to build confidence lap after lap and show what I was capable of."

Mercedes driver development adviser Gwen Lagrue emphasized the test's broader impact. "It is always special for a young driver, but today it is even more unique," Lagrue stated. "We are very proud to show the next generation of female drivers that driving an F1 car is achievable. Doriane can certainly act as an inspiration."

This landmark test is more than just track time; it's a statement. It fuels the growing belief that a woman competing on the F1 grid is not a question of 'if,' but 'when.' For now, Doriane Pin has etched her name into the history books, proving that with talent and determination, the pinnacle of motorsport is within reach.
