DORAL, Fla. – The Donald Trump statue at Trump National Doral is the talk of the driving range on Tuesday at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship.
Standing 15 feet tall (22 feet with the pedestal), the gold-leaf bronzed statue of the two-time and current U.S. president was installed at the resort earlier this month.
“It’s going to make me look smaller than I already am,” said Rickie Fowler when asked if he would take a photograph with it this week.
The statue, created by artist Alan Cottrill and commissioned by a cryptocurrency group ($PATRIOT), depicts Trump with a raised fist following the July 2024 assassination attempt. It’s very on-brand.

It's hard not to stop and stare, and it will likely be a focal point of attention when fans are welcomed to the tournament site, beginning at Wednesday's pro-am. Tour pro Maverick McNealy was among several players unsure whether he’d be taking a selfie with the statue this week, but said, “It’s very tall and very gold.”
When a tournament photographer asked a few Tour staff people if they wanted a group photo by the statue, he received a collective, “No.”
“Ok, I didn’t know you were all so woke,” the photographer said.
Doral’s Blue Monster previously hosted a PGA Tour event from 1962 to 2016. It is making its return this week – it also hosted a LIV event in recent years.
