The Dolphins signed Malik Willis to a three-year deal, but one analyst believes they'll take a quarterback in the first round of the 2027 NFL draft.

The Miami Dolphins have undergone a major shakeup this offseason, bringing in new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley while making a bold move at quarterback—replacing Tua Tagovailoa with Malik Willis on a three-year deal.

But while the Dolphins are betting on Willis to lead the charge, one analyst thinks they should already be looking ahead. If things don't go according to plan in 2026, Miami could find itself with a top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft—and a chance to land their true franchise quarterback.

In a recent mock draft, CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson projects the Dolphins will select Oregon quarterback Dante Moore with the No. 1 overall pick. "Moore would've been the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft had he not decided to return to Oregon," Wilson writes. "He plays with high-end pocket composure, handles pressure well, and once the play breaks down, is elite out of structure."

Moore, just 20 years old, was a five-star recruit out of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit before starting his college career at UCLA and transferring to Oregon a year later. Over 29 games between the two programs, he's completed 65.9% of his passes for 5,224 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions.

His 2025 season was a breakout campaign: Moore completed 71.8% of his passes for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions, earning All-Big Ten honors. If he follows that up with another stellar year, he's a lock to be near the top of the draft board—right where the Dolphins could be picking.

Of course, there's plenty of football to be played between now and 2027. But for a team in transition, the idea of pairing a new front office with a young, dynamic quarterback is a storyline worth watching.
