The Miami Dolphins may have brought in a veteran quarterback in free agency, but they should consider grabbing another in the 2026 NFL draft as well.

The Miami Dolphins' quarterback room looks different in 2026. After moving on from Tua Tagovailoa, the team signed veteran Malik Willis to lead the offense. While Willis brings experience, his limited starting history means Miami must think long-term about the position.

Behind Willis, the depth chart features recent late-round picks Cam Miller and Quinn Ewers. However, ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak believes the Dolphins should target Penn State's Drew Allar in the 2026 draft, naming Miami a top landing spot for the prospect.

Solak suggests using a Day 3 pick on Allar could pay immediate dividends. The 22-year-old possesses a strong arm and the ability to make anticipation throws—a valuable trait at the professional level. This move would create healthy competition, potentially allowing Allar to challenge for the backup role and push for starting reps if needed.

Allar's college resume is impressive. A former five-star recruit, he threw for over 7,400 yards and 61 touchdowns at Penn State. Although his final season was cut short by an ankle injury, he is expected to be fully recovered, making him an intriguing developmental prospect.

For a Dolphins team building for sustained success, adding a talented quarterback like Allar could solidify the most important position on the field for years to come. It's a forward-thinking strategy that keeps the roster competitive and prepared for any scenario.
