The Miami Dolphins are sending a clear message about their explosive young running back: De'Von Achane is staying put. Despite Achane's absence from the start of the team's offseason program as he seeks a new contract, the front office has no intention of moving him.
General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, speaking at a press conference, directly addressed the trade speculation. "He's not available for trade," Sullivan stated firmly. He emphasized that Achane is a crucial part of the team's future, adding there is "zero effort" from the Dolphins to deal the dynamic playmaker.
The focus, instead, is on getting a deal done. Sullivan reported positive progress in contract talks, saying, "Things are going good. We've had some positive conversations over the last couple of days, trending in the right direction." He acknowledged that contract negotiations are simply "part of professional sports," but expressed confidence a resolution will be found.
While no player is ever considered completely untouchable for the right astronomical offer, all signs point to Achane remaining a centerpiece of the Dolphins' high-powered offense. For now, it appears the electric running back will be suiting up in Miami this fall as the two sides work toward a new agreement.
