When the Miami Dolphins' quarterbacks coach Bush Hamdan was asked who's the first player in the building these days, he didn't hesitate: Malik Willis.
"He's always the first one in the building, the last one to leave," Hamdan told local reporters. "He's already pushing to do the right thing in the community."
That kind of work ethic is exactly what you want in a franchise quarterback—and the Dolphins clearly agree. They signed Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract to be their starter, a move that signals major confidence in the young signal-caller.
But it's not just the leadership that has coaches buzzing. Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik can't stop raving about Willis' natural talent.
"Really talented individual," Slowik said. "Can spin the ball over the field, can throw the ball everywhere, can run, obviously can use his legs, he's tough."
What stands out most, though, is the energy Willis brings to the locker room. "The person is really fun to be around, really energetic. He infuses everybody with a lot of energy," Slowik added.
For Dolphins fans, this is exactly the kind of buzz you want to hear about your new QB. A player who shows up early, stays late, and brings a contagious energy—all while possessing the arm talent and athleticism to make every throw on the field.
Whether you're suiting up for game day or just hitting the practice field, that same drive and determination is something every athlete can appreciate.
