This WR room isn't exactly what fans were hoping for after the NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins have undergone a massive roster overhaul this offseason, and nowhere is that more evident than in the wide receiver room. With Malik Willis stepping in at quarterback and familiar stars like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle moving on, fans were hoping the team would land a dynamic new playmaker in the NFL Draft. But according to Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, the projected starting trio for 2026—Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and Malik Washington—isn't exactly the headline-grabbing group supporters envisioned.

Instead of a fresh rookie sensation, the Dolphins are leaning on two veteran rentals who bring very different levels of promise. Tolbert, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, offers some real upside and could develop into a reliable target for Willis. He's not a flashy name, but he has the tools to be a solid starter. The bigger question mark is Atwell. The speedy but undersized receiver has been a serviceable rotational piece for the Los Angeles Rams, but his ceiling is limited and his floor is dangerously low. Pairing him with Tolbert and the returning Washington leaves Miami's aerial attack feeling a bit underwhelming—especially for a team in transition.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins do have rookie options on the roster in Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, and Kevin Coleman Jr. Bell, who is recovering from a torn ACL, could be ready by the start of the season and would bring far more excitement to the starting rotation than Atwell. Douglas was considered a reach on draft night, but the team clearly sees potential. For a franchise looking to build around a new quarterback, banking on proven-but-unspectacular veterans over young talent feels like a missed opportunity—and not the fresh start fans were hoping for.
