Influencer Griffin Johnson is gearing up for another Kentucky Derby run, but this year, he's cheering on two contenders instead of one.
After co-owning Sandman, who finished seventh in last year's Run for the Roses, Johnson is back in the saddle with trainer Mark Casse and the Team Casse horse racing group. Their partnership kicked off in 2024 through the "A Stake in Stardom" program, which gave Johnson a minority stake in Sandman in exchange for promotional support. Now, he's putting his energy behind Counting Stars and Search Party in the 2026 Kentucky Derby.
Team Casse initially had a third horse, Silent Tactic, in the running, but the horse was scratched due to a bruised foot. That leaves Counting Stars, with 8-1 morning-line odds, and Search Party, a long shot at 30-1, as Johnson's picks for glory on the track.
For fans of the influencer, the choice is clear: root for Counting Stars and Search Party when the gates open on Saturday. Post time for the Kentucky Derby is set for 6:57 p.m. ET, so grab your favorite derby gear and settle in for an exciting race day.
