The bottom half of the Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation is pulling its weight. From that select group, southpaw Justin Wrobleski is the headliner.
Heading into Sunday's rubber match against the Chicago Cubs, Wrobleski was on the wave of a slew of solid outings. It would be no different in the 6-0 win against Chicago, as Wrobleski tossed six scoreless innings and tallied a season high six strikeouts.
In his previous three starts dating back to April 13, Wrobleski has only given up one earned run in 20 innings pitched and 11 punchouts racked up.
Wrobleski would run into a bit of traffic in his first two innings of work. In an unusual turn of events, the southpaw's command was starting to get away from him and he ran into some trouble.
By the second inning, he would be up to three walks (ended his outing with four) and found himself in a bases loaded situation and one out. Wrobleski fought through and was able to escape the inning unscathed.
From then on, it was smooth sailing for the 25-year-old.
He racked up five straight scoreless innings and the bullpen, which comprised of Edgardo Henriquez, Jack Dreyer and Kyle Hurt, took care of the rest.
In terms of offense, though it wasn't as productive as yesterday's 12-4 win, was just enough.
The Dodgers started their scoring in the first inning, putting up a three spot, but were balnked until the sixth.
Dalton Rushing broke the scoreless scoring streak with an RBI single. In his last seven games, Rushing is hitting .273 with eight RBIs.
The talks of Shohei Ohtani had been grumbling wgith each passing day. Even with his dominant performances on the mound in 2026, the slow start to his hitting has been the biggest question mark.
Ohtani seemingly put those assumptions to rest as he went 3-3 in the shutout win, including launching his sixth home run of the season to cap off the scoring.
That was Ohtani's first home run since April 12, his longest streak without a home run in a Dodgers uniform.
With this series win, the Dodgers improve to a 19-9.
