The Dodgers' rotation shuffle continues, as Blake Snell has been pulled from his scheduled start against the Angels in Friday's Freeway Series opener. The left-hander, who recently returned from shoulder discomfort, made his season debut on May 9 against the Braves—but it wasn't the comeback he'd hoped for.

In that outing, Snell struggled with command and sharpness, surrendering four runs over just three innings of work. That performance left him with a 12.00 ERA through his first start of the 2026 campaign. Originally slated to pitch in Single-A Ontario on Saturday, an injury to Tyler Glasnow opened the door for Snell to jump straight into the big-league rotation. Now, just days after that accelerated debut, the Dodgers are pressing pause.

According to The Athletic's Katie Woo, Snell will not take the mound as planned. While no official reason has been given, it's widely assumed that his shoulder may be sore following his first taste of MLB action this season. The organization appears to be taking a cautious approach, not wanting to push their prized arm too hard too early.

Stepping into the spotlight will likely be Will Klein, a pitcher who has carved out a reliable role in long relief. The World Series Game 3 hero has posted a solid 2.76 ERA and 0.3 bWAR over 12 appearances this season, earning the trust of manager Dave Roberts and solidifying his place on the roster. Expect Jack Dreyer to piggyback off Klein, given his two days of rest and experience in a long-relief capacity.

Other options include Wyatt Mills, who struggled in his Dodgers debut but could eat innings if needed, and Blake Treinen, who could be deployed in high-leverage situations if the game stays close late. For now, all eyes are on Snell's recovery—and how the Dodgers' bullpen steps up in the Freeway Series opener.
