The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a key roster move ahead of their series finale against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park, activating right-handed reliever Brock Stewart from the injured list. Stewart was the first of ten Dodgers to start the season on the IL, missing the opening 35 games of the year.

Stewart underwent right shoulder debridement surgery late last September, which delayed his spring training buildup. However, he looked sharp during his rehab assignment, tossing 6⅓ scoreless innings across eight games with Class-A Ontario and Triple-A Oklahoma City. In that span, he struck out 13 of the 27 batters he faced—an impressive 48.1 percent strikeout rate—while allowing just four hits, three walks, and one hit batter. He also generated 23 swinging strikes on 112 pitches, including 15 in his 4⅔ Triple-A innings.

While his velocity was slightly down—averaging 95.5 mph on his four-seam fastball and 94.8 mph on his sinker, compared to 96.2 mph last season—Stewart checked all the necessary boxes during his final week in Triple-A. He pitched on back-to-back days, made a one-batter appearance, and entered mid-inning on Sunday at Round Rock, showing he's ready for high-leverage relief work.

To make room on the active roster, the Dodgers optioned left-hander Jake Eder to Triple-A. Eder made a strong impression during his brief stint, allowing just one run over four innings with one strikeout and one walk, and earned his first career major league win on Monday against the Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium. He appeared in four of the 15 games for which he was active.

Eder, acquired from the Washington Nationals for cash considerations on April 1, has now pitched in the majors for three consecutive seasons—first with the Chicago White Sox in 2024, then with the Angels earlier this year. While all 12 of his big-league appearances have been in relief, he was a starter throughout his first four minor league seasons, making 69 starts. For Oklahoma City, he made three relief appearances before his call-up on April 20, when closer Edwin Díaz landed on the IL.

With Stewart back in the fold, the Dodgers add a reliable arm to a bullpen that's already been tested early in the season. For Eder, it's back to Triple-A to continue building on his promising debut—and maybe, just maybe, another call-up is on the horizon.
