The District 3 lacrosse playoffs are set, and Berks County is making a powerful statement with eight teams punching their tickets to the postseason. Leading the charge is the Twin Valley girls' squad, which earned the top seed in Class 2A after a dominant BCIAA championship run.
With five girls' teams and three boys' teams representing the area, the competition promises to be fierce. The tournaments kick off Friday, but several teams have already secured byes straight into the quarterfinals, giving them extra time to prepare.
Girls' Lacrosse Highlights
Twin Valley (16-1) has been unstoppable this season, capping off their BCIAA title with an 8-5 victory over Wilson. As the No. 1 seed in Class 2A, they'll enjoy a first-round bye and host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday against the winner of No. 8 Trinity (12-6) and No. 9 Lampeter-Strasburg (11-7).
Wyomissing (17-1) isn't far behind as the third seed, also earning a bye. The Spartans will welcome the winner of No. 6 York Catholic (12-4) and No. 11 Lower Dauphin (10-6) to their home turf on Tuesday.
In Class 3A, Wilson (14-3) is the third seed and has a bye into the quarterfinals. They'll host the victor of Friday's clash between No. 6 Cedar Crest (14-4) and No. 11 Gov. Mifflin (12-6). Exeter (12-6) is the eighth seed and will host No. 9 Chambersburg (11-6) on Friday at 7 p.m., with the winner facing top-seeded Cumberland Valley (18-0) on Tuesday.
Boys' Lacrosse Action
The boys' bracket features BCIAA champion Wilson as the fourth seed in Class 3A. The Bulldogs (15-3) have a first-round bye and will start their postseason on Tuesday at home against the winner of No. 5 Hempfield (10-6) and No. 12 Mechanicsburg (11-7).
In Class 2A, Twin Valley (14-2) is the second seed and also has a bye into the quarterfinals. They'll play Tuesday against the winner of No. 7 Kennard-Dale (10-7) and No. 10 York Suburban (9-9). Conrad Weiser (9-7) is the eighth seed and will host No. 9 Garden Spot (8-8) on Friday at 6 p.m., with the winner taking on top-seeded Lampeter-Strasburg (17-1) on Tuesday.
