When the District 3 baseball tournament brackets came out, few gave 11th-seeded Muhlenberg much of a chance against Lancaster-Lebanon League champion Manheim Township. But on Friday, the Muhls proved that seeding is just a number.

Cole Moody delivered a masterful complete-game performance, scattering six hits while striking out six and walking just one as Muhlenberg stunned sixth-seeded Manheim Township 6-3 in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Moody allowed three earned runs but kept his composure when it mattered most, giving his team a chance to pull off the upset.

Offensively, the Muhls (12-7) got a huge boost from Marvin Frias, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Michael Canfield also contributed, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Meanwhile, Manheim Township's defense crumbled under pressure, committing seven costly errors that proved impossible to overcome.

The win sends Muhlenberg to the quarterfinals, where they'll face a tough test against No. 3 Waynesboro on Monday. Waynesboro advanced after dismantling No. 14 Central Dauphin 16-6 in their first-round matchup.

In another surprising result, 13th-seeded Northeastern shut down BCIAA champion and fourth-seeded Wilson 3-1, proving that anything can happen in postseason baseball. The loss was a bitter end for Wilson, who entered the tournament with high expectations.

Meanwhile, in Class 5A action, both Exeter and Twin Valley saw their tournament runs come to an end with losses, bringing a disappointing close to their seasons.
