Manchester United's resurgence under Michael Carrick has been nothing short of remarkable, and according to winger Amad Diallo, the entire squad is firmly behind the interim boss. Diallo has made it clear that "everyone" at Old Trafford would welcome Carrick staying on as head coach beyond this season.

The 44-year-old former United midfielder stepped into the hot seat back in January, following Ruben Amorim's brief and troubled tenure. Since then, Carrick has transformed the team's fortunes, guiding United to Champions League qualification with three games still to play. The shift in momentum has been dramatic, with the Red Devils now sitting third in the Premier League, six points clear of fierce rivals Liverpool after a thrilling 3-2 victory on Sunday.

That win prompted midfielder Kobbie Mainoo to declare that the players "want to die for" Carrick, highlighting the deep bond forming within the squad. But despite the on-field success, questions linger about whether Carrick will be given the job on a permanent basis. Diallo, however, is optimistic.

"Honestly, it's not the player who decides who is going to stay here next season, but what I can say is everyone is happy to have him as manager," Diallo told Sky Sports. "Everyone is with him. He's that manager who has a good relationship with every player, so we are really happy to have him as manager, and we will be happy if we have him next season."

While Diallo himself hasn't registered a goal or assist since Carrick took charge, the manager has praised the 23-year-old's work rate and overall contribution. For Diallo, Carrick's support during tough moments has been key. "Even when you are in tough moments, he's there to talk to you, he's there to help you," he explained. "The biggest change maybe is that the team is now more impactful. In the dressing room, we are really together. Every mistake is not a problem; your mistake is my mistake. We go forward, we want to win as a team."

United's next challenge takes them to the Stadium of Light on Saturday to face mid-table Sunderland—a special trip for Diallo, who spent a season on loan there in 2022/23. "I really enjoyed my time in Sunderland. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about the club," said the Ivory Coast international. "Now I'm one of the big fans because I watch every game."
