Devils Dish: Connor Brown Reveals Which Teammates Are Most Likely

After a practice in late February, I cornered New Jersey Devils forward Connor Brown and asked him to partake in my favorite segment, “Which Teammates Are Most Likely.” Understanding that he was a new addition to the Devils’ locker room, I decided to ask him the same questions I had asked Chris Tierney in February 2024 to see if there were any repeats in answers.

After a crisp February practice, New Jersey Devils forward Connor Brown found himself in the hot seat for our favorite locker room segment, "Which Teammates Are Most Likely." As a fresh face in the Devils' locker room, Brown brought a new perspective to the game—and we couldn't resist asking him the same questions we posed to Chris Tierney back in February 2024. Would the answers line up? Let's just say, the results were pure hockey gold.

First up: Who's the most reliable teammate? Brown didn't hesitate. "Brenden Dillon. He is reliable. Every time I call, he answers." Sounds like a teammate you can count on—on and off the ice.

When asked who'd break into a rap song in the middle of the room, Brown grinned. "Paul Cotter. He would probably start rapping." We're guessing Cotter's got some hidden bars.

Then came the curveball: Who makes the best cookies? Brown gave a shout-out to Emma Dillon (Brenden's better half). As for the guys? "Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe Johnathan Kovacevic? That is a blind guess." Editor's note: Emma's chocolate chip cookies were described as "elite" by Brown himself. We'll need to confirm that in 2026-27—purely for research, of course.

Who's most likely to get scared? "Not Cody Glass—he would be terrified. Dawson Mercer." So, Mercer's the brave one.

And who'd try to fight a bear? Brown laughed. "Arseny Gritsyuk. Actually, that is not true because it would probably be recorded." Smart thinking, Brown.

Who's the master of the Irish goodbye? "Jake Allen. He has three kids and is allowed to Irish goodbye." Fair point—dad privileges.

Finally, in a hypothetical arm-wrestle between Dougie Hamilton and Brenden Dillon? "Dougie Hamilton is pretty strong. But you know what? It is probably Brenden Dillon. Those two would be the final." Tierney had also named two players last year—one was Hamilton, the other Brendan Smith. Looks like we just swapped one Brendan for another.

The segment ended with an awkward moment that had Brown staring at me in disbelief. I was trying to speed through the questions and accidentally stumbled into a doozy. The silence? Priceless. The laughter? Unstoppable. It's moments like these that make "Which Teammates Are Most Likely" a Devils locker room tradition worth keeping.

So, whether you're hitting the ice or just hitting the couch for game day, remember: every team needs a reliable Dillon, a rapping Cotter, and a cookie-baking MVP. Stay tuned for more insider fun from the Devils' locker room.
