The New Jersey Devils will have another representative on the international stage this spring. Connor Brown has been added to Team Canada's roster for the upcoming 2026 IIHF Men's World Championship, set to take place in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland from May 15-31.
Hockey insider Dave McCarthy was first to break the news, followed by Devils beat reporter Kristy Flannery. Brown joins a formidable Canadian squad that already includes Macklin Celebrini, Mark Scheifele, Mathew Barzal, Morgan Rielly, and highly-touted Penn State prospect Gavin McKenna—projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft.
Team Canada will be looking to reclaim gold after their last championship in 2023, while Team USA enters as the defending gold medalists. For Brown, this marks a well-deserved nod after a strong season with the Devils.
The 31-year-old Toronto native recorded 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) for New Jersey in the 2026-27 campaign. Over his NHL career, which began full-time in 2016-17, Brown has amassed 301 points (125 goals, 176 assists). He previously spent time with the Edmonton Oilers from 2023-25 before signing with the Devils as a free agent in July 2025 on a four-year, $12 million deal.
Brown also represented Hockey Canada at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, bringing home a silver medal. With his experience and two-way reliability, he adds valuable depth to a Canadian roster already loaded with firepower.
Whether you're cheering for Canada or just love seeing Devils on the world stage, this tournament is shaping up to be one for the books.
