Detroit Tigers infielder John Peck has been making headlines after an unforgettable week at the plate for Double-A Erie. The 23-year-old prospect went a scorching 10-for-19, smashing four home runs, four doubles, and driving in nine runs—earning him spots on both Baseball America's weekly "hot sheet" and MLB Pipeline's Prospect Team of the Week.

Drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Pepperdine, Peck is now in his fourth season with the Tigers organization. His explosive performance has pushed his season batting average to .278 with an .869 OPS, and he's already hit six home runs—more than halfway to last year's total of 11. Baseball America's J.J. Cooper called it "the best week of his pro career," noting Peck's impressive mix of defensive versatility and surprising power.

While Peck can sometimes be overly aggressive at the plate, Cooper says weeks like this make it hard to complain about the results. MLB Pipeline's Ben Weinrib echoed that sentiment, highlighting how Peck has split time across shortstop, second base, and third base for the SeaWolves, but one thing remains consistent: he's mashing regardless of where he plays.

Peck is part of a standout 2023 Tigers draft class that also includes top outfield prospect Max Clark (selected No. 3 overall) and infielder Kevin McGonigle (No. 37). Clark has already risen to Triple-A Toledo and is knocking on the door of the big leagues, while McGonigle has been one of MLB's top rookies this season. For fans tracking the Tigers' future, Peck's recent surge is yet another reason to be excited about what's brewing in the farm system.
