The Lions CB position is a need entering the 2026 NFL Draft. Jadon Canady is a mid-round prospect who the Lions have shown interest in. However, he carries a moderate medical concern level which might be too high for the Lions.

Here is the excerpt from my Jadon Canady Medical Report:

(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season and are factored into the concern level. Injury info and ages based on available public information are unverified and subject to update. Games played data courtesy of sports-reference.com.)

Projected round 3-5. Matt Miller’s #142 overall player. Formal combine meeting with Lions.

2023: 2/13 games. Still recovering from knee injury.

2022: 8/14 games. Right knee ACL and meniscus tear.

One of the big concerns with an ACL tear is if there is associated cartilage damage. This was indeed the case with Canady who had a meniscus cartilage tear. The ACL doesn’t present long-term concerns, but the meniscus tear could, depending on severity. Loss of meniscus cartilage can increase the chances of articular cartilage damage and arthritic pains.

Medical will attempt to estimate career longevity based on the cartilage damage, but there is a lot of unpredictability. It’s reassuring that Canady showed two full seasons of proof of recovery. His age is a bit older than ideal, but isn’t too advanced.
