Florida basketball fans have a familiar face returning to Gainesville. Guard Denzel Aberdeen announced on Instagram that he plans to re-enroll at the University of Florida, marking a homecoming after a single season with the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Orlando native, a key contributor to the Gators' 2025 national championship run, departed last offseason after an NIL deal could not be finalized. His return adds immediate experience and scoring punch to the Gators' backcourt for what he hopes will be a final season of eligibility.

Aberdeen proved his high-major capability at Kentucky, starting 35 games and averaging 13.5 points and 3.4 assists while shooting 36.3% from beyond the arc. His development was on full display against his former team, as he scored 19 points in a February matchup in Gainesville.

Now, the 6-foot-5 guard aims to bring that polished game back to the O'Dome. During Florida's title run, he provided valuable minutes off the bench, averaging 7.7 points. His return signals a major boost for a Gators program looking to build on its recent success, adding a veteran presence who knows what it takes to win in March.
