Rutgers football just landed a major piece for its future, securing its first wide receiver commitment for the 2027 recruiting class. Jamar Taylor, a standout 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver from Salesianum High School in Delaware, has officially pledged to the Scarlet Knights, marking the team's fifth offensive commit in this cycle.

Taylor's junior season was nothing short of impressive. He hauled in 48 catches for 703 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning first-team all-conference honors while leading his team to the Delaware Class 3A championship game. His combination of size and athleticism makes him a nightmare matchup for opposing secondaries.

Before transferring to Salesianum, Taylor showcased his versatility at Town Hill during his sophomore year. On offense, he recorded 53 receptions for 742 yards and 9 touchdowns in just nine games. But he didn't stop there—on defense, he added 45 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles, proving he's a true two-way playmaker.

Taylor isn't just a football star; he's also a track standout. This past winter, he set his school's record in the high jump with a 6-foot-7-inch leap and captured the Delaware state championship in the event. That explosiveness and body control translate directly to his game on the gridiron, making him a threat in jump-ball situations.

It's no surprise that Taylor attracted attention from powerhouse programs across the country. He held offers from Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and several others. Ranked as a top 80 wide receiver in the 2027 class by On3 and Rivals, his commitment is a significant win for Rutgers as they continue to build for the future.

Taylor is still scheduled for an official visit to Rutgers on May 29th, giving fans even more reason to be excited about what's to come in Piscataway.
