Italian football royalty weighed in on Arsenal's Champions League chances after the Gunners secured their spot in the final with a gritty 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid. The debate, aired on Sky Sport Italia, brought together three legends—Fabio Capello, Alessandro Del Piero, and Alessandro Costacurta—each offering a unique perspective on whether Arsenal can lift the trophy.

Capello, the former Juventus and England manager, wasted no time raising doubts about Arsenal's defensive capabilities. "The question I ask myself is: will Arsenal's defence be able to stop one of the two teams they'll face in terms of speed?" he said, pointing to the attacking firepower of potential opponents PSG or Bayern Munich. "Both Paris and Bayern have three or four positions where they can do whatever they want. Constant one-on-one situations. Right, left, centre."

Del Piero, a Champions League winner with Juventus in 1996, acknowledged the challenge but offered a glimmer of hope for Arsenal fans. "They are fast, strong, and they know how to shoot and score goals," he said of the powerhouse sides. "The positive thing for Arsenal is that it is a final. In my opinion, over the two legs, they wouldn't have come out alive against either of them. In a final, anything can happen; there are many dynamics."

Del Piero knows the highs and lows of the big stage all too well, having also lost finals in 1997, 1998, and 2003. Costacurta, a five-time European champion with AC Milan, added his two cents from a defender's perspective. "When you play a stronger team, you can hold on for 90 minutes," the former center-back argued, suggesting that a one-off final levels the playing field more than a two-legged tie.

The stage is now set for the final showdown. PSG and Bayern Munich face off at the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their semifinal, with the French giants holding a 5-4 advantage from a wild first leg. The winner will meet Arsenal in what promises to be a clash of styles, with the Gunners' defense—led by their resolute backline—facing perhaps their toughest test yet.

For Arsenal fans, the message from these Italian legends is clear: the final is a different beast. Anything can happen, and that's what makes football beautiful.
