Deion Sanders has a message for Todd Monken—and he believes it's one only a father can deliver.

The Colorado Buffaloes head coach is planning a trip to Cleveland to sit down with Browns head coach Todd Monken, and the conversation, he says, is long overdue. "I was supposed to go, actually next week but I’ve got to shoot a commercial, to Cleveland to meet [Monken]," Sanders shared on "The Barbershop" with Garrett Bush, via ProFootballTalk. "Because I want to meet him. Because I think it’s vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going."

For Sanders, this meeting isn't just about football—it's about unlocking his son's full potential in the NFL. Having coached Shedeur from high school through all four college seasons at Jackson State and Colorado, Sanders knows his son's game inside and out. That kind of insight, he argues, isn't something you can glean from any film session.

What's frustrating for the Hall of Famer is that no one asked a year ago. "That wasn’t asked of me a year ago. I don’t understand it," Sanders said. "Even a guy like Travis Hunter being drafted to Jacksonville and I’ve had him for the last three [seasons], don’t you think you would want to talk to me to ask me what gets him going and what backs him off? You would want to know that. So, I anticipate, and I can’t wait to have that conversation with Coach Monken."

Shedeur is now competing with Deshaun Watson for the starting quarterback job in his second NFL season. Monken, hired in January after the Browns parted ways with Kevin Stefanski following a 5-12 finish, will be the one making that call. For Sanders, this meeting is about giving Monken the playbook no one else has—the one that comes from a father's heart and a coach's eye.
