Cardiff Devils have locked down a key piece of their blue line, announcing that defenceman Jimmy Oligny has signed a two-year contract extension with the team.

The 33-year-old Canadian made an immediate impact in his first season in Wales, tallying seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points across all competitions. His steady presence on the back end proved invaluable as the Devils captured their fourth Play-Offs Final title, defeating the Sheffield Steelers last month.

Oligny's durability was nothing short of remarkable. The rugged defenceman suited up for all 68 games on the Devils' schedule, playing through the final three weeks of the campaign with a broken thumb. That kind of grit and commitment is exactly what championship teams are built on.

Before arriving in Cardiff, Oligny built an impressive resume across Europe and North America. He spent six seasons with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League and also suited up for HKM Sloven in Slovakia and Austrian side Graz 99ers. Now, with his future secured in South Wales, Devils fans can look forward to more of his hard-nosed defending and offensive contributions for at least two more seasons.
