Roberto de Zerbi has issued a powerful rallying cry to his Tottenham squad, urging them to "silence the voice inside of us" as the club fights to stave off Premier League relegation. The passionate manager, who took over as Spurs' third boss of the season in March, knows that survival is now a mental battle as much as a physical one.

After a hard-fought first league win of 2026 against bottom-side Wolves last weekend, Tottenham remains in the relegation zone. They sit two points behind 17th-placed West Ham with just four games left to play. The schedule is daunting: a trip to fifth-placed Aston Villa on Sunday, followed by clashes with Leeds United, Chelsea, and Everton. The stakes couldn't be higher—Spurs haven't faced relegation since 1977.

In an impassioned pre-match press conference, De Zerbi didn't hold back. "The most important challenge now is to silence the voice inside of us, inside of the players, inside the staff and the fans," he said. "This voice produces negative thoughts. It says we are unlucky, we have too many injuries. We lost Xavi Simons, and he was one of our most important players in the last two games. Our medical staff is not good enough, the pitch is not good, our training pitch is not good. Winning two or three games in a row is impossible because we hadn't won a game in 2026."

De Zerbi dismissed that negativity as "rubbish" and called for a fighting spirit. "It's like we're all crying and already relegated. No, not yet. We have to die on the pitch. We have to play, we have to fight. We have two points less than West Ham, and they have difficult games too. This is a tough moment, but losers cry and think negative. I don't want people close to me crying or thinking a different way than me."

The injury list is a real concern. Netherlands attacking midfielder Xavi Simons has been ruled out for the season after rupturing his ACL against Wolves, joining a long list of sidelined stars. Striker Dominic Solanke and James Maddison (who suffered an ACL injury in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle in South Korea) are also missing. But De Zerbi insists there's no time for excuses—only action.

For Spurs fans, this is a moment of truth. Can the team channel De Zerbi's fire and silence the doubts? The next four games will define their season—and their legacy. One thing is certain: the manager won't let them give up without a fight.
