Roberto De Zerbi has delivered a much-needed boost for Tottenham fans ahead of their Premier League clash with Aston Villa, confirming that midfielder Pape Sarr is fit and available for selection.

The Senegalese international has been sidelined since De Zerbi's first match in charge—a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sunderland—where he featured for nearly half an hour off the bench. A lingering shoulder issue has kept him out of action since, but the Italian boss revealed positive news in his pre-match press conference.

"Today was his first day with the group, but he worked very well. He's available, yes," De Zerbi said. "I have not decided yet if he will be in the starting 11."

Sarr's return comes at a crucial time for Spurs, who have endured a mixed start under their new manager. With one win, one loss, and one draw in their opening three league matches, consistency has been hard to come by. However, last week's hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolves marked the club's first Premier League win since December 28—a result that has injected some much-needed confidence into the squad.

De Zerbi has been open about the challenges of implementing his philosophy on the fly. "The compromise is we can't work too much, we can't give them too much information, too many instructions, because at the beginning when you have too many instructions you lose the speed," he explained. "But I think they are smart and they can understand early, quickly. They need a fixed plan, a clear plan, a way to play."

The Italian tactician pointed to the first half against Wolves as a sign of progress, praising his team's organization and spatial awareness. "In terms of order, occupation of the spaces, the line pass—it was good," he said. "But we made some mistakes in decision-making. Too many times we went outside when we should have kept the ball inside. That's a habit we need to change."

As Spurs gear up for a tough test against Aston Villa, the return of a dynamic midfielder like Sarr could be the key to unlocking more fluid, attacking football. For De Zerbi, it's another step toward building a team that can compete on multiple fronts—and do it his way.
