The Los Angeles Chargers made another splash this offseason, signing tight end David Njoku to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. While this move adds firepower to an already exciting offense, Fantasy managers might be left wondering how all these pieces will fit together.
Let's start with the biggest winner in all of this: Justin Herbert. The star quarterback is primed for a monster 2026 campaign, and it's not just because of Njoku. The Chargers brought in offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who helped Tua Tagovailoa lead the NFL in passing yards in 2023 with the Dolphins. McDaniel has already made it clear he's all-in on Herbert, saying he's watched "every pass play that (Herbert's) ever had in the National Football League" and wants him to "be elite at everything that we do."
Herbert also gets a huge boost from the return of tackles Rashawn Slater (knee) and Joe Alt (ankle), both of whom missed significant time in 2025. In the six games Alt played, Herbert averaged 25.1 Fantasy points per contest. With a healthier offensive line and a creative play-caller, Herbert has top-five QB potential and should be targeted as a No. 1 option in all formats. In one-quarterback leagues, he's a mid-round steal; in Superflex or two-QB leagues, he's worth a Round 2 pick.
Now, about that crowded offense. Njoku joins a receiving corps that already features standout wideouts and a dynamic backfield. The tight end brings athleticism and a proven track record from his time with the Browns, but Fantasy managers will need to monitor target distribution closely. McDaniel's system has historically supported multiple pass-catchers, but Herbert's top options will be worth prioritizing in drafts.
Speaking of the backfield, running back Omarion Hampton is another player to watch. After an ankle injury limited him to just five games in 2025, Hampton flashed serious potential, posting three outings with at least 13 PPR points and two games over 24.9 PPR points. When he returned in Week 14, he still managed three of four games with 14.7-plus PPR points despite a banged-up offensive line. With Slater and Alt back healthy, and McDaniel's track record of maximizing running backs, Hampton could be in for a breakout season. He's a Round 2 target in all formats.
The Chargers are loading up, and while the competition for touches might create some Fantasy headaches, the talent on this roster is undeniable. Herbert, Hampton, and Njoku all have the potential to be difference-makers—just make sure you draft wisely in a sea of options.
