David Coulthard has hailed Colin Farrell as a "truly enthusiastic" motorsport fan after the Hollywood star’s standout appearance at the Miami Grand Prix—proving that some celebrities are more than just grid-walk window dressing.

Farrell stole the show during Sky Sports F1's pre-race grid walk, greeting presenter Martin Brundle with a warm smile and a playful jab: "It's lovely to meet you. After all these years, you don't write, you don't call. Look at this shirt. Old school."

The actor then shared his deep-rooted passion for Formula 1, recalling his first live race experience: "The first race I went to was '98, Monza, on a package holiday. Me and two lads and a dodgy hotel, sharing rooms, flying Ryanair. The V10s back then. Schumacher brothers first and third and Eddie Irvine finished second."

Farrell went on to predict a win for Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, while also tipping his cap to Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. "It's mega to be here," he added, beaming.

While the Miami paddock was packed with A-listers like Jimmy Fallon and DJ Khaled, it was Farrell who left the biggest impression on Coulthard. The former Red Bull driver revealed on the Up To Speed podcast that he'd actually met Farrell back in 1994—and the actor remembered.

"I didn't realise I had met him back in 1994, and he remembered and I was slightly embarrassed because he's the Hollywood A-lister and I'm just an old has-been," Coulthard said with a laugh. "I did an interview with him and it got to the point where it was almost like we need to wrap now. It doesn't normally happen with celebrities, but he is truly enthusiastic about motorsports—and unsurprisingly very proud of his Irish heritage. He was talking about Eddie Jordan, talking about Eddie Irvine. It was great to see people come and enjoy the sport."

For fans who love the intersection of style and speed, Farrell’s "old school" shirt and genuine F1 knowledge are a reminder that true passion for the sport never goes out of fashion—whether you're trackside or just gearing up for race day.
