The 2026 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, and for Indianapolis Colts fans, the pre-draft ritual is about to begin. General Manager Chris Ballard is scheduled to address the media in his annual pre-draft press conference next Monday, April 20, at 12:00 PM ET.
This session comes at a pivotal time for the franchise. Ballard has been exceptionally active this offseason, reshaping the roster through a flurry of moves. The Colts made nine outside free-agent signings and secured key re-signings like quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce. However, they also saw significant departures, trading away star receiver Michael Pittman and linebacker Zaire Franklin while watching contributors like Samson Ebukam and Kwity Paye leave in free agency. Veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II also remains a potential trade candidate.
As a result, despite the busy period, several clear roster needs remain heading into the draft. The challenge for Ballard is that he currently faces this task with limited resources. The Colts hold only seven total draft picks, with just two falling within the coveted top 100 selections.
Ballard has hinted at a desire to trade back to accumulate more capital, and a potential deal involving Moore could also net an additional pick. How he navigates this constrained asset pool to fill holes on both sides of the ball will be a central theme of his press conference.
Following Ballard's media availability, head coach Shane Steichen will speak on Tuesday as the Colts' voluntary offseason program gets underway, marking the official start of the team's preparations for the 2026 season.
