Legendary Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel is set to bring his wealth of experience to Fox's World Cup coverage this summer, the network confirmed to Front Office Sports. The iconic shot-stopper, who represented Denmark in four World Cups and spent eight trophy-laden seasons with Manchester United in the English Premier League, will serve as a studio analyst for the tournament.
The 2026 World Cup, which kicks off on June 11 and concludes with the Final on July 19, will be hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Fox will broadcast 70 matches on its main network, with an additional 34 airing on FS1. All 104 matches will be available in stunning 4K resolution on the Fox One streaming service.
Fox Sports president and executive producer Brad Zager expressed excitement about the addition, stating, "Peter brings an incredible perspective to our presentation and was phenomenal in studio with us in 2024. We're looking forward to having his insights on Fox Sports' coverage this summer as the newest international addition to the roster."
Schmeichel, who previously worked with Fox during the 2024 UEFA Euro tournament, shared his enthusiasm: "Between all the fans that will be present and the amazing atmospheres, I'm looking forward to experiencing everything the tournament brings with it and sharing my insights with viewers."
The Danish legend joins a star-studded lineup of Fox studio analysts, including host Rebecca Lowe, former Manchester United striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf. With Schmeichel's commanding presence and deep understanding of the game, fans can expect unparalleled analysis throughout the tournament.
