Last Saturday, Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley delivered a heavyweight classic that will be remembered for years to come. Now, the two British warriors are set to run it back, with Wardley activating a rematch clause to face Dubois again.

The fight was nothing short of epic. Dubois, 28, climbed off the canvas twice—once in the first round and again in the third—to stop Wardley in the 11th round at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena. In doing so, he claimed the WBO heavyweight title from the 31-year-old Ipswich man, handing him his first professional loss.

Frank Warren, who promotes both fighters, revealed that Wardley had a rematch clause in his contract. Now, Wardley has confirmed he will use it. "The boxing world knows my character, and Saturday night proved that without a shred of doubt," Wardley told Sky Sports. "It was a fight for the ages, but I made some mistakes that I will rectify in the rematch. Congratulations to Daniel, but I'm coming for you… and my belt!"

The rematch is likely scheduled for late 2026, though no official date has been set. Both men need time to recover: Dubois sustained damage around his left eye, while Wardley aggravated a pre-existing nose injury and suffered a cut near his right eye.

Wardley had built a reputation for dramatic comebacks, winning his previous two fights while trailing on the scorecards. He stopped Justis Huni in the 10th round last June and followed that with an 11th-round knockout of Joseph Parker in October. That victory earned him the interim WBO title, which was upgraded to the regular belt in November when Oleksandr Usyk vacated it.

For Dubois, this victory makes him a two-time world champion. He first claimed the IBF heavyweight title in 2024 by stopping Filip Hrgovic for the interim belt. When Usyk vacated, Dubois was upgraded to full champion. He then knocked out Anthony Joshua to retain the title before losing it in a rematch with Usyk last summer.

This rematch has all the makings of another instant classic. Both fighters have proven they can take a punch and deliver one when it counts. For fans of the sweet science, this is a rivalry that's just getting started.
