Dan Hurley's roster rebuild at UConn is picking up serious steam. The Huskies have added a fifth player from the transfer portal, with former Jacksonville State guard Jaye Nash announcing his commitment on Saturday.
Standing 6-foot-3 and hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Nash brings a steady presence and sharp passing skills to Storrs. As a sophomore for the Gamecocks last season, he averaged 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists across 25.7 minutes per game. His 129 total assists ranked fourth in Conference USA, highlighted by a 12-assist performance early in the year against South Alabama. Nash started 15 of 32 games and dropped a career-high 19 points against Kennesaw State.
Nash's journey to UConn began at Tulsa, where he saw limited action as a true freshman, logging just 6.8 minutes per game in 21 appearances. Now, he's ready for a bigger stage with the Huskies.
"So many emotions," Nash captioned his announcement on Instagram, capturing the excitement of this next chapter.
Nash joins an impressive wave of transfer additions. UConn recently landed former Seton Hall center Najai Hines, former Duke forward Nik Khamenia, Stanford center Oskar Giltay, and Wofford guard Nils Machowski. The Huskies are also bringing in two freshmen—wing Colben Landrew and guard Junior County—both expected to compete for meaningful minutes right away.
With Machowski and County in the fold, UConn's backcourt is shaping up to be one of the best in the country, especially alongside returning guards Silas Demary Jr. and Braylon Mullins. On the flip side, the Huskies have seen five players depart via the portal, including 7-footer Rrezon Elezaj, who committed to Appalachian State on Saturday.
For fans watching the Hurley rebuild, this is a team that's reloading with a mix of proven transfers and hungry young talent. Whether you're gearing up for game day or just love following the action, keep an eye on this squad—they're building something special.
