Nelly Korda is now a three-time major champion at the age of 27 after triumphing at The Chevron Championship.
Korda stormed to a stunning five-shot victory at Memorial Park in Houston, Texas, for her second win of the season and the 17th of her LPGA Tour career.
The American also won The Chevron Championship in 2024, three years after her maiden major victory at the Women’s PGA Championship.
Dame Laura Davies has now made a prediction about Korda after her latest success, with a specific reference to 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam.
Four-time major winner Davies said on the Sky Sports Golf Podcast: “You can only judge people on what they have done so far.
“If she wants she has another five to 10 years at the very top.
“I am not sure anyone will ever reach Annika’s number of wins and majors, so I think Annika is a little bit out of range for her.
“But certainly she can pull up alongside Karrie Webb, Se-ri Pak, Lorena Ochoa.
“My goodness, what could she have done if she went on?
“Nelly has definitely got it all there, it just depends how much longer she plays.
“But at the moment her game is just at a slightly different level.
“She seems to have another gear to go to and she’s fun to watch.
“She’s not the most bubbly personality but you don’t have to be like that, your golf does your talking for you.”
Korda is indeed on another level right now, with the LPGA Tour superstar finishing T2 or better in all five of her starts this season.
But her latest display was a real masterclass in its own right, with the American going wire-to-wire to see off the challenge from runners-up Patty Tavatanakit and Yin Ruoning.
She does, however, have some way to go to truly emulate LPGA legend Sorenstam, who claimed a phenomenal 72 wins throughout her career.
The Swede has gone down as one of the all-time greats, although Korda may already find herself in that category too given her fantastic performances in recent years.
She’s rapidly edging closer to LPGA Hall of Fame status, where she would join Sorenstam, seven-time major winner Webb, five-time winner Pak, and two-time winner Ochoa.
The LPGA superstar has already shown her ambition following her win at The Chevron Championship, with Korda playing at the Riviera Maya Open this week, ahead of which she has returned to number one in the world rankings.
