Dak Prescott isn't sweating George Pickens' absence from voluntary workouts—and he's got a good reason why.
The Cowboys quarterback recently shared his confidence in the star wide receiver, who signed his franchise tag earlier this year but has yet to join the team for voluntary offseason activities. Prescott's advice to Pickens? "Bet on yourself." And that's exactly what the receiver did, even as Dallas has made it clear they're not pursuing a long-term extension this offseason.
Speaking at the team's charity home run derby on Thursday, Prescott revealed that he and Pickens have been putting in work together away from the facility. "We've done as much as needed," Prescott said. "I've just showed George my support. The guy that I know George is, obviously he signed the tag, so when he has to be there and ready to play, he's going to be there."
The quarterback's trust in his receiver's preparation is clear. "He's a hell of a talent. We've thrown this offseason, so I'm comfortable with where he's at and I'm excited for when he can get in the building and get rolling," Prescott added.
For fans wondering about the timeline, the only mandatory team activity is the mid-June minicamp. Until then, Pickens is free to train on his own terms—and based on Prescott's comments, that's perfectly fine. When you've got a quarterback and receiver who are already on the same page, a few missed voluntary sessions aren't going to slow down what could be a dynamic duo this season.
