The Chicago Cubs' farm system is buzzing with talent, and April brought some well-deserved recognition to a pair of standout prospects. Infielder Pedro Ramírez has been named the International League Player of the Month, and his numbers tell the story of a breakout start. Over April, Ramírez slashed an impressive .323/.398/.625 while leading the league in home runs (seven), RBI (28), and runs scored (24). As if that weren't enough, he also swiped ten bases, showcasing a blend of power and speed that has fans dreaming of his future at Wrigley Field.

Not to be outdone, right-hander Brooks Caple earned Midwest League Pitcher of the Month honors. Caple went 3-1 with a stellar 2.89 ERA across four starts, striking out 24 batters while issuing just three walks over 18.2 innings. That kind of control and dominance is exactly what the Cubs' pitching pipeline aims to develop.

Meanwhile, Fangraphs dropped their updated Top 34 Cubs prospects list, which now factors in early-season performances. With Moisés Ballesteros—now graduated from prospect status—sitting at number one, the new top dog in the system is infielder Jefferson Rojas. Keep an eye on him as the season unfolds.

The minor league shuffle was in full swing since Sunday, with several key moves across the organization. Second baseman Hayden Cantrelle and right-hander Tyler Santana both moved from Triple-A Iowa to Double-A Knoxville. Caple also earned a promotion, heading to Knoxville from High-A South Bend, joined by right-hander Jackson Kirkpatrick. On the flip side, shortstop Alex Madera was sent down to South Bend from Knoxville, while shortstop Geuri Lubo dropped to Low-A Myrtle Beach. Right-hander Eli Jerzembeck moved up to South Bend from Myrtle Beach, and left-hander Pierce Coppola joined Myrtle Beach from the Development List. Finally, right-hander Jostin Florentino was assigned to the rookie-level ACL Cubs from Myrtle Beach—a procedural move since he hadn't yet pitched for the Pelicans this year.

On the field, the Iowa Cubs struggled against the Columbus Clippers (Guardians), falling 9-6. Starter Ty Blach took the loss after surrendering six runs on ten hits over 3.2 innings, walking one and striking out three. The bright spot? DH BJ Murray crushed a three-run home run in the fifth inning—his fifth of the season—going 1-for-5 on the night. Center fielder Justin Dean also shined, doubling and tripling in a 2-for-5 performance, driving in two runs and scoring once. And Kevin Alcántara added a double to keep the offense churning.
