Chennai Super Kings finally ended a six-year drought at Chepauk, successfully chasing down a 180-plus target for the first time since 2019. And they did it in spectacular fashion, thanks to a breathtaking knock from young Urvil Patel that turned the iconic stadium into a six-hitting carnival.

Chasing 204 against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, CSK needed something special. Enter Urvil Patel, who delivered a 23-ball 65 that included the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history—reaching the milestone in just 13 balls. The crowd at MA Chidambaram Stadium erupted as the 23-year-old matched Yashasvi Jaiswal's record from 2023, while also notching his maiden IPL half-century.

The chase began steadily through Sanju Samson and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. But after Samson fell to Digvesh Rathi while attempting a pull shot, Urvil took complete control. He targeted Avesh Khan for three sixes in a single over, then unleashed on Rathi with three more maximums and a four. The defining moment came when he smashed Mohammed Shami over long-on for his seventh six, moving to 48 off just 11 balls.

After reaching his fifty, Urvil pulled out a paper slip from his pocket that read, "This is for you, Dad," with lines written in Gujarati. The Chepauk faithful responded with chants of "Urvil! Urvil!" while the CSK dugout celebrated wildly. He finished with eight sixes and two fours at a staggering strike rate of 282.61, before falling for 65.

Earlier, LSG had raced to 91 in the powerplay through Josh Inglis's explosive 85 off 33 balls. But CSK's bowlers, led by Jamie Overton's 3/36, pulled things back after field restrictions to restrict LSG to 203/8. The win pushed CSK to fifth on the points table while pushing LSG closer to elimination.

The chase also saw CSK register 97/1 in the powerplay—the highest powerplay score at Chepauk, surpassing LSG's 91. For CSK fans, it was a night to remember: their team finally conquered a 180-plus target, and a new star was born at the fortress.
