It was a day for celebrating the past and present at Crowder College on Saturday, and the current Roughriders delivered a performance worthy of the occasion. Honoring their sophomores and alumni, the team swept a dramatic softball doubleheader against St. Charles Community College.

The theme of the day was set early, as sophomore Carly Cook ignited the offense in Game 1. Her first-inning single drove in Josie Henson, sparking a five-run rally that propelled Crowder to a commanding 10-5 victory. Fellow second-year players Layla Pasley and Evelyn Comstock delivered key hits in the inning, showcasing the depth of the sophomore class.

Cook led the charge offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with four runs scored, while Callie Cooper and Comstock provided crucial support at the plate.

After celebrating the legendary "Ghostriders" alumni and the 1986 national championship team, Game 2 provided heart-stopping drama. The Roughriders found themselves in a deep 8-1 hole early, but refused to quit. Pitcher Tessa Groeneveld entered in relief to stabilize the game, allowing the offense to mount a stunning comeback.

Crowder chipped away, tying the game with a five-run fifth inning and forcing extra innings. The tension built until the bottom of the 10th, when the Roughriders secured a thrilling walk-off victory, completing the sweep in unforgettable fashion.

The wins boost Crowder's record to 21-20-1 (6-6 in Region 16), demonstrating the resilience and fight that defines great softball. It was a perfect day for the Roughrider family, blending tradition with a thrilling display of modern-day grit.
