The Orioles got back on track on Tuesday.

The Baltimore Orioles finally found their footing on Tuesday, snapping a frustrating five-game losing streak with a gritty 9-7 comeback win over the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park. After nearly a week without a victory, the club was feeling the pressure — but a late-inning surge reminded everyone what this team is capable of.

The win improved the Orioles to 16-20 on the season, still far from where they expected to be after an aggressive winter that brought in big names like Pete Alonso, Shane Baz, and Ryan Helsley. But for manager Craig Albernaz, the focus was on the energy his team brought to the field.

"It was great energy from the guys the whole game," Albernaz said. "They played loose and you could tell they were locked in on every pitch. It was exactly what we want from them, and what we want from them moving forward."

Baltimore's lineup came alive up and down the order, but the night belonged to Samuel Basallo and Adley Rutschman. Basallo put together one of his most complete performances since arriving in the big leagues, collecting a triple, a double, and a single while driving in four runs. Rutschman, meanwhile, delivered the biggest hit of the night — a go-ahead single off lefty Andrew Nardi in the ninth inning that scored Taylor Ward from second base.

Leody Taveras followed with another run-scoring single, and Pete Alonso — who walked twice and crossed the plate four times — provided a steady presence in the middle of the lineup. Rico Garcia locked things down with the final four outs to earn his third win of the season.

Of course, one victory doesn't erase the inconsistency that has plagued Baltimore through the first six weeks. The Orioles sit last in the American League East, well behind a dominant New York Yankees squad. Injuries have also taken a toll: Zach Eflin is out for the year after elbow surgery, and Trevor Rogers just landed on the injured list, leaving the rotation scrambling for answers.

Still, Tuesday night offered a glimpse of the resilience and talent that made this roster so intriguing in the first place. For a team that's been searching for momentum, a win like this might be exactly what they needed to turn the page.
