Wales will be without one of their standout performers for the final match of the Women's Six Nations, as Gwen Crabb has been ruled out of Sunday's clash against Italy due to a knee injury.

The 26-year-old second row has been a revelation in this year's tournament, leading the competition in turnovers after an impressive opening three rounds. However, a knock sustained in training forced her to miss last weekend's trip to Ireland, and scan results have now confirmed she will not feature at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday (kick-off 12:15 BST).

"Gwen hasn't come through sadly, she's been going really well," admitted head coach Sean Lynn, whose side are looking to snap a nine-match losing streak in the Six Nations.

Crabb's absence is a significant blow for Wales, but it opens the door for Georgia Evans to build on a stellar performance in round four. Making her first start of the campaign last week, Evans delivered a remarkable 28 tackles—more than any other player across the weekend—and is expected to retain her place against the Azzurre.

Lynn also has the experienced Natalia John, who earned her 50th cap against Ireland, ready to step in as Wales aim to finish the tournament on a high note. Beyond this weekend, Crabb will also miss the Barbarians fixture on 27 June due to a scheduled operation to treat endometriosis, a condition she has spoken openly about in recent months.

With Italy standing in their way, Wales will need every ounce of grit and determination to turn their fortunes around—and fans will be hoping the team can channel the same fighting spirit that has defined their campaign so far, even without one of their key players in the pack.
