George Pickens is turning heads in Dallas—and one NFL analyst thinks the Cowboys' newest star receiver is just getting started.
After a breakout 2025 season that earned him his first Pro Bowl nod, Pickens is already generating major buzz heading into 2026. The former Pittsburgh Steeler was traded to the Dallas Cowboys last year and immediately made his mark, leading the team in all major receiving categories with 93 catches, 1,429 yards, and 9 touchdowns.
Now, with a $27.3 million franchise tag signed last month, Pickens has secured his immediate future—but the conversation is already shifting to what comes next.
ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck didn't hold back when discussing Pickens' potential. "He's rare, and he might be the most talented Dallas Cowboy," Hasselbeck said. "That's saying something because the receiver opposite him is a number one wide receiver pretty much anywhere he goes."
Hasselbeck went on to praise Pickens' unique physical gifts: "His size, speed, and length are incredible, and you pair that with a really good quarterback, you get the numbers you saw a year ago. I would only expect him to grow. I think we'll look a year from now, and he's gonna be pretty happy with what he's looking at in terms of a long-term contract."
The Cowboys' front office appears to agree. Executive vice president Stephen Jones has made it clear the team never considered trading Pickens, and head coach Brian Schottenheimer has emphasized that the young receiver remains a cornerstone of Dallas' long-term plans.
With quarterback Dak Prescott leading the offense, the Cowboys believe Pickens' best football is still ahead of him. Dallas has until July 15 to negotiate a potential contract extension—and if Pickens delivers another season like his 2025 campaign, that payday could be even bigger than expected.
For now, Pickens is skipping voluntary offseason workouts, but the message from Dallas is clear: they're building around him, and the sky's the limit.
