A former Dallas Cowboys defender has officially moved on from the franchise.

The Dallas Cowboys have officially bid farewell to veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr., who signed a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with the Seattle Seahawks. The move, first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and later confirmed by ESPN's Adam Schefter, marks the end of Fowler's second stint with the Cowboys.

Fowler, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, is entering his 12th season in the league. His journey has taken him from the Jacksonville Jaguars (3.5 seasons) to the Los Angeles Rams (1.5 seasons), the Atlanta Falcons (two seasons), and then to Dallas in 2022. In his first two seasons with the Cowboys, he recorded 40 tackles, 10 sacks, and three forced fumbles—solid production for a rotational pass rusher.

After a standout 2023-24 season with the Washington Commanders, where he logged 39 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles while helping the team reach the NFC Championship game, Fowler returned to Dallas in 2025. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games but managed just 15 tackles and three sacks—a noticeable drop-off from his peak performance.

While Fowler's 2025 numbers weren't eye-popping, losing a 31-year-old edge rusher with his experience and pedigree to a Super Bowl contender like the Seahawks stings. Seattle, fresh off a championship run, adds a proven pass rusher who can still make plays when healthy. For Dallas, this departure leaves a gap in their defensive rotation, especially as they look to bolster their pass rush heading into the new season.

For fans and gear enthusiasts alike, this move is a reminder that the NFL offseason is all about roster turnover—and sometimes, even familiar faces find new homes in rival uniforms.
