Daniel Jeremiah thinks University of Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis could be a sneaky Day 2 draft pick for the Seattle Seahawks this week.
In the latest episode of the Bootleg Football Podcast with Brett Kollman and EJ Snyder, Jeremiah comes on as a guest and speaks on “tweener” type defensive players who don’t fit one position’s prototype to a T, but have a skill set that can be utilized in multiple. “I think Seattle wants another one. I think when you look at Ernest Jones, there were some struggles in coverage last year. I think they would love to have somebody else that can occupy that spot that can really cover when they get in certain situations as well. That’s why I’m like, man, is the league gonna allow Kyle Louis to somehow get to Seattle in this whole thing? Just plug him into the vortex of players that they can mess people up with with his ability to cover.”
While linebacker isn’t where Seattle is projected to go with their limited draft capital, that rigid positional structure is exactly the framework Jeremiah is getting away from to put himself in the Seahawks’ shoes.
Louis is an outlier athlete measured against other linebackers. His speed, explosiveness and shuttle are awesome. But at under 6 foot and 220 pounds, it’s tough to put him in a box as just a linebacker or a nickel.

However, his coverage film is what truly shows why he’s a diamond in the rough. Louis put up perhaps the best one-on-one coverage session for a linebacker in Senior Bowl history. With Seattle’s close ties to the Senior Bowl a main reason why they drafted Grey Zabel and Elijah Arroyo last year, it shouldn’t be surprising to see them go back to that well.

If Jeremiah’s vision comes true, Louis would add an element to Mike Macdonald's "Dark Side" defense that could keep them ahead of the NFL for another entire year.
