The Carolina Panthers appear to be placing their long-term bets on quarterback Bryce Young, and the early returns suggest it might be a winning hand. Selected first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young has steadily transformed from a raw rookie into a poised, playoff-caliber starter over his first three seasons. This past year, he led the Panthers to an 8-8 record in his starts—missing just one game due to injury—and propelled the franchise back to the NFL Playoffs for the first time since his arrival. That kind of turnaround has Carolina's front office thinking big.

General Manager Dan Morgan recently confirmed to SiriusXM NFL Radio that the team is actively discussing a contract extension for Young. "I think you see him just getting better and better every single year," Morgan said. "Understanding the offense, he's such a good processor... As you see him mature, you see him become a better leader every single year. The operation's getting faster every year. We really feel like the arrow is up with Bryce."

The numbers back up that optimism. Young has improved his completion percentage, total passing yards, and touchdown passes in each season since entering the league. More importantly, the team's record has followed suit: from a dismal 2-14 in his rookie year to 5-12 in Year 2, and then to 8-9 in Year 3. In the seven games over that span when Young didn't start, the Panthers managed just a 1-6 record—underscoring his value to the offense.

For Panthers fans and those watching the quarterback market, Young's trajectory is a reminder that patience can pay off in the NFL. As he continues to grow into the role, the question isn't if the Panthers will commit to him long-term, but how soon they'll make it official.
