
Apr. 11—MOUNT PLEASANT — The Cardiac Cougars did it again.
Despite a losing record, College of Charleston has been no stranger to late heroics this season, and Friday night was more of the same as the Cougars notched their fifth walk-off victory of the season with Will Tippett drawing a five-pitch walk with the bases loaded in the ninth in a 6-5 win over North Carolina A&T at Patriots Point.
The Aggies led 5-4 before the Cougars (14-19, 6-7 CAA) evened the game in the seventh on Alex LaCoste's sacrifice fly.
Sophomore Parker Sweeney picked up his second victory, striking out five Aggies in 22/3 scoreless innings where he allowed just three hits.
Tippett was 1 for 3 with a homer, two walks and two RBIs, while Reece Holbrook was 3 for 3 with a double, walk and two RBIs.
CLEMSON — Nate Savoie, Jack Crighton and Jackson Moore all homered as Clemson upset No. 6 North Carolina 9-5 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Crighton was 3 for 5 with a homer, two doubles and two RBIs for the Tigers (23-12, 5-8 ACC), while Savoie was 3 for 4 with a homer, walk and an RBI. Moore was 2 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs, and Jacob Jarrell went 2 for 3 with a double and two walks against UNC (28-6-1, 11-5).
Clemson starter Aidan Knaak (2-3) earned the win, as he allowed seven hits, two runs and two walks with nine strikeouts, the most by a Tiger in 2026, in six innings. Hayden Simmerson tossed three innings to record his third save of the year.
COLUMBIA, MO. — South Carolina's Amp Pillips struck out 10 over eight shutout innings as South Carolina defeated Missouri 1-0.
Phillips was in control all night, allowing just five hits and a walk. The Gamecocks (17-19, 4-10 SEC) scored the game's only run in the fourth as Tyler Bak tripled and scored on a throwing error on a grounder by Talmadge LeCroy.
South Carolina finished with just three hits and struck out 13 times.
SPARTANBURG — Wofford's Alec Bouchard and reliever Branton Little combined on a six-hit shutout as the Southern Conference-leading Terriers got past The Citadel 2-0.
The Terriers (23-11, 6-1 SoCon) managed just four hits themselves but managed single runs in the fifth and eighth innings to stymie the Bulldogs (16-17, 3-4).
TJ Anderson and Garrett Fulmer each went 2 for 4 for The Citadel, which was limited by 14 strikeouts.
Bulldogs starter Will Holmes allowed one run on two hits and five walks wile striking out eight.
SPARTANBURG — USC Upstate got a grand slam from Johnny Sweeney in the third inning and slowly pulled away in a 9-1 win over Charleston Southern.
The Buccaneers (20-12, 5-5 Big South) were held to three singles and five walks.
CSU starter Titus Von Kapff allowed eight runs over six innings.
