For one half, Connecticut showed grit and resilience, hanging tough with the experienced Aces despite a glaring gap in playoff pedigree. But the wheels came off in the second half, resulting in a lopsided 98-69 loss. The 29-point margin tied the second-largest home defeat in franchise history and marked the Aces' biggest win ever over the Sun in their series.

Amid the disappointment, second-year forward Aneesah Morrow continued to shine as a bright spot. Coming off the bench, she posted her second straight double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Morrow was the only Sun player to log over 20 minutes without committing a turnover, and she made her presence felt defensively with a team-high two steals and a block. While she struggled from the field (4-for-16), she kept the pressure on at the free-throw line, knocking down 7 of 10 attempts.

Olivia Nelson-Ododa, thrust into the starting lineup in Griner's absence, also delivered a standout performance. She finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists while shooting an efficient 5-for-7 from the floor.

But those efforts weren't enough to counter the Aces' one-two punch. Reserve guard Chennedy Carter was electric on both ends, leading all scorers with 27 points on a scorching 13-for-16 shooting night, to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Meanwhile, four-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson was her usual dominant self, posting 22 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks on 8-for-15 shooting.

The Sun now fall to 0-3 on the season, but there's little time to dwell. Connecticut gets an immediate chance at redemption when they host the Aces again at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night. Head coach Rachid Meziane provided a glimmer of hope before Wednesday's game, indicating that Griner is expected to return for the rematch.

Friday's contest will be a true test of resilience for this young Sun team—and a chance to prove they can hang with the league's elite when at full strength.
