As the Bundesliga season approaches its dramatic finale, 1. FC Union Berlin is preparing to say goodbye to three key players who will leave the club as free agents this summer.

The German capital club officially announced on Thursday that defenders Danilho Doekhi and Diogo Leite, along with midfielder Alex Král, will depart when their contracts expire. This marks the end of an era for Union Berlin, as Doekhi and Leite have been pillars of the defense over the past four seasons, racking up 136 and 135 appearances respectively as regular starters. Their consistency and leadership at the back have been instrumental in Union's rise in the Bundesliga.

Král, who initially joined on loan from Spartak Moscow in 2023 before making the move permanent, has made 53 appearances for the club, contributing to their midfield stability.

The departures aren't limited to the pitch. Goalkeeping coach Michael Gspurning and physiotherapist Silvio Thieme will also leave at the end of the season, adding to the sense of transition at the club.

Fans will have the chance to give all five an official farewell on Saturday during the final home match of the season against Augsburg at the iconic Stadion An der Alten Försterei. It promises to be an emotional send-off for players who have helped shape Union Berlin's recent success.
