ARLINGTON, Texas — It was an ordinary day in an extraordinary run for the Chicago Cubs. ARLINGTON, Texas — For the Chicago Cubs, history is becoming a habit. On Friday, they made it look routine again, securing their 10th straight victory with a commanding 7-1 win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. The win, witnessed by 32,394 fans, marks the second 10-game winning streak of the season for a team that's rewriting the playbook on consistency.

This isn't just a hot streak—it's a historic one. The Cubs are the first team since the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers to pull off multiple nine-plus-game winning streaks in a single season. And as for the 10-game mark? You'd have to go all the way back to 1935 to find a Cubs squad that did this twice. That's 88 years of baseball, folks.

How are they doing it? It starts on the mound. Rookie Ben Brown delivered a dazzling first start in place of the injured Matthew Boyd, tossing four hitless innings. Javier Assad followed with 3 2/3 scoreless frames, allowing just one hit to earn the win. The pitching staff has been the backbone of this run, but the defense and baserunning are stealing the show, too.

Take center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who made a diving catch on a sinking liner and then playfully waved to teammate Ian Happ from the grass. Or Nico Hoerner, who pulled off another "Nico thing"—racing to second base while the Rangers' middle infielders collided on a grounder, completely missing that he never stopped running.

"We're just playing our brand of baseball," said Seiya Suzuki, who ignited the offense with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. "Hopefully we just keep stacking them up."

Speaking of history, the Cubs are celebrating their 150th anniversary this season. According to MLB stats expert Sarah Langs, they've had six other seasons with multiple 10-plus-game winning streaks: 1880, 1885, 1886, 1906, 1901, and, of course, 1935. In 1906, they actually had four such streaks during a 116-win season—though they ultimately fell to the "Hitless Wonders" White Sox in the only all-Chicago World Series.

"It's crazy," Hoerner said of the streak. "Baseball is a game full of a ridiculous amount of stats. Any time you have to go that far back, it's obviously a good sign."

At 27-12, the Cubs boast the best record in Major League Baseball. Don't try to overanalyze it. Just let the wave wash over you and enjoy the ride. This team is making history look ordinary—and that's anything but.
