The Indianapolis Colts are making it clear: they're not ready to give up on Anthony Richardson Sr. just yet. Despite the young quarterback losing the starting job to Daniel Jones during last season's training camp and subsequently requesting a trade to seek a fresh start, the organization is taking a measured approach with their former first-round pick.

"We'll have a little patience here and see what happens," general manager Chris Ballard said, addressing the trade request. "We'll let it play out as it does over time."

Richardson made headlines this week by reporting to the Colts' voluntary offseason program after skipping the first two weeks. The move signals a potential willingness to work things out—or at least to stay professional while the front office explores options. Either way, the coaching staff is ready to make the most of his presence.

"Anthony showed up here ready to work this week and, shoot, we're gonna get some good work out of him," offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said. "We'll try to get him better and get him opportunities to go work his drills and get some throws and all that good stuff."

The quarterback room is getting crowded. Jones, the franchise's starter moving forward, is still recovering from an Achilles injury, which opens the door for Richardson and Riley Leonard to compete for backup reps. How those snaps are divided remains to be seen.

"We work through how we want to do that thing," Cooter explained. "Who's with what group is not any sort of news I'm trying to break here today, but guys are out there getting work. There's reps to go all around. There's throws to make. There's reps to get in drills. Those guys are all part of the thing and getting reps."

For now, the Colts are keeping their cards close to the vest. Whether Richardson stays to compete or eventually gets his wish for a fresh start, one thing is certain: patience is the name of the game in Indianapolis.
