INDIANAPOLIS – Less than seven months since he tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee in a Week 5 on-field collision, Spencer Shrader has casually been knocking down 50-plus-yard field goals.
Like several Colts starters, Shrader’s injury rehab will bleed into the start of the team’s offseason workout program that kicks off this week, but Colts general manager Chris Ballard told reporters that Shrader, as well several players like team captains quarterback Daniel Jones and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, continue to trend in the right direction as they work their way back onto the field for traditional work later this summer.
Ballard still maintained the Colts do not have a clear, concrete timeline as to when to expect Jones, the franchise’s starting quarterback who recently signed a two-year deal worth up to $100 million, back in normal action after he tore is right Achilles tendon in Week 14 at Jacksonville. Jones, though, is “throwing” and “moving.”
“He’s in a really good spot,” Ballard said of his team’s starting quarterback. “We’re all shooting for Week 1 for sure, but we’ll kinda let his body dictate (it). He’s moving along."
